Green Spot Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey. Image courtesy Irish Distillers.OK, I owe you an apology. I’ve been drinking Green Spot for years, but only now realized that I’d never posted tasting notes for the current version — just the original 10-year-old version that was a must-buy for anyone traveling through Ireland. Irish Distillers removed the age statement years ago, and blends casks from 7-10 years old to make the present-day version.

The nose has notes of green apples, pears, apricots, raisins, and subtle traces of spices and oak. The taste has great spicy notes of clove, white pepper, and a hint of cinnamon balanced by toasted oak and fruity notes of green apples, peaches, and apricots. The finish is long, slightly dry, and fruity with a hint of toasted oak. A classic! (November, 2020)
