Glenmorangie Astar 2017 Edition
Country: Scotland
Region: Highlands
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 52.5%
Score: 92 Points
The 2017 edition of Astar is a throwback to Glenmorangie’s original 2008 release, which also used custom-made Ozark Mountains oak casks used to mature Bourbon for four years before being sent to Scotland. The biggest difference between this release and the original Astar is a drop in bottling strength from 57.1% ABV in the original to 52.5%.
The nose is citrusy with a good maltiness and hints of lemon zest, straw, butterscotch, and honey. The taste is creamy with citrus fruits, apricots, and hints of hazelnut, clove, and mint leaves. The finish is long with lingering spices, honey, and a touch of coconut. Very nice. (March, 2018)
