Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This is Wyoming Whiskey’s 2018 limited-edition release for sale in Wyoming, and gets its name from “Steamboat,” the horse said to be the inspiration for the bucking horse and cowboy silhouette seen on the state’s license plates. It was blended to be a bit lighter than the standard Wyoming Whiskey Bourbon, even though the bottling strength is slightly stronger.
The nose has notes of fresh berries, a hint of caramel candy, subtle spices, vanilla, and honey. The taste has a berry cobbler sweetness balanced by good black pepper and allspice notes with touches of caramel candy, vanilla, and a hint of butterscotch underneath. The finish is medium-length and fruity. (July, 2018)
