Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
You’ve probably had a rye whiskey made at MGP’s Indiana distillery before, but not like this one. The team of Bob Dylan and the Spirits Investment Partnership team of whisky makers took MGP’s regular rye and finished it in custom-made and toasted cigar-shaped casks from France’s Vosges region.
The nose has notes of linseed oil, lemon furniture polish, ginger, nutmeg, and a slightly herbal aroma. The taste is spicy with clove, black pepper, and chili powder notes that stick to the tip of your tongue, while a subtle lemony tartness and a hint of ginger sing backup along with honey and vanilla in the background. The spices last a long time on the finish and fade to a subtle end with hints of sweetness. Excellent! (May, 2018)
