Talisker Issues Storm Warning
Diageo’s Classic Malts range will be adding a new Talisker expression in early 2013, with plans to add more new Taliskers later this year. Talisker Storm will be available in selected European markets, and while it will be bottled at the distillery’s traditional strength of 45.8% ABV, will not carry an age statement.
Storm is intended to be more intense and smoky than the standard Talisker 10 year old, with stronger maritime notes and retaining the traditional Talisker sweetness. In a news release, Diageo Master Blender Dr. Jim Beveridge explained the goal his team used in developing the new expression.
“We wanted to focus on distillery character – the bedrock of Talisker Storm. So we sought out some great mature Talisker, enriched and mellowed by time spent in carefully rejuvenated casks, and brought that together with some very fresh distillery character preserved by maturation in refill casks. The result is Talisker’s unique distillery character delivered by aged, mature whiskies, integrated in one vibrant dram.”
Talisker Storm will be priced in between the Talisker 10 and the Talisker Distiller’s Edition expressions.
