Image courtesy Beam Suntory. This is the second generation of the award-winning Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013 Edition, and includes some of the whisky from that batch that was never bottled, but was re-casked and allowed to mature for two more years before being blended with other Yamazaki sherry casks up to 25 years old.

The nose is rich and aromatic with muted spices, plums, raisins, toffee, and a hint of oak for a very assertive and robust aroma. The taste is intense, thick, and oily with plums, raisins, a hint of baked oranges, clove, cardamom, apricots, and a hint of brown sugar. The finish is long, but gentle on the tongue with dried fruits, subtle spices, a dry dustiness, and touches of cedar and pine in the background. Wow! (February, 2016)
