Wyoming Whiskey Barrel Strength Bourbon. Photo ©2015 by Mark Gillespie.Only 111 bottles of this barrel-strength Bourbon came from two casks filled in 2009 and bottled in 2015, and the nose is intense, but still buttery-smooth with a nice oakiness, vanilla, Turbinot sugar, orange blossom honey, caramel candy, fudge, and muted touches of clove and nutmeg in the background. Those spices come alive on the palate with a nice balance between the clove and nutmeg and sweeter notes of fudge, caramel, orange blossom honey, anise, and just a kiss of smokiness that completes the complexity. The finish is aromatic and spicy, dominated by clove with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, fudge, orange peel, and anise that come out as the clove fades. High marks for complexity and balance throughout.
