Writers' Tears Red Head. Image courtesy Walsh Whiskey Company. This Irish single malt is matured in Oloroso Sherry casks, and the nose has notes of dried fruits, candied orange slices, hints of hazelnuts, plums, dates, and a nice maltiness. The taste has good spices along with classic sherry notes of raisins, toffee, a touch of hazelnuts, orange peel, and a soft oakiness. The finish is long, rich, and well-balanced with lingering spices and hints of orange peel and oak. Very nice. (February, 2018)
