Woodford Reserve Straight Rye

Country: USA

Region: Kentucky

Type: Rye

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 45.2%

Score: 91 Points

Woodford Reserve Straight Rye. Image courtesy Woodford Reserve/Brown-Forman.This Rye carries no age statement, in keeping with Woodford Reserve’s usual practice, but we do know that the mashbill contains 53% rye grain along with a small percentage of malted barley.

The nose has notes of cedar, black pepper, cocoa, oak, and a touch of nougat. The taste has an intense pepperiness with clove and cinnamon notes that fade to reveal touches of apple pie, honey, and a touch of oak. The finish is long with a good balance of honey, brown sugar, and clove. (February, 2015)
