Woodford Reserve Straight Malt. Image courtesy Woodford Reserve/Brown-Forman.This whiskey is a followup to the 2013 Masters Collection release of a straight malt whiskey, but differs in that this edition is made with a mashbill of 51% malted barley along with corn and rye while the 2013 was a 100% malted barley whiskey.

The nose is very sweet and gentle with notes of barley sugar, pipe tobacco, caramel candy, cocoa, brown sugar, and a hint of almonds. The taste has a good balance of sweetness and spices, much like a gourmet chocolate bar with ground chili peppers in it. There are hints of dried fruits, nuts, and oak as well, while the finish has subtle touches of chocolate, almonds, and a hint of barley sugar. Very nice. (June, 2018)
