Woodford Reserve Double Double Oaked Bourbon. Image courtesy Woodford Reserve/Brown-Forman.Part of Woodford Reserve’s Distillery Series of limited-release bottlings officially available only in Kentucky, this Bourbon takes the Woodford Reserve Double Oaked whiskey and gives it a second year in new charred oak barrels. The result is a whiskey with a nose full of vanilla, caramel, charred oak, dark chocolate, a hint of ginger, subtle spices, and molasses cookies. The taste is spicy and thick with black pepper and clove on top of caramel, molasses, and cocoa notes. Charred oak adds depth, along with a touch of ginger root that comes out late and lasts into the finish – which is long and slightly astringent with lingering oak, cocoa, and molasses notes.
