This $15,000 Cognac cask-matured Bourbon was created to celebrate the 150th Kentucky Derby, and is finished in casks made from staves allowed to season in the Derby winner’s circle at Churchill Downs. Only 150 Baccarat decanters were produced, and the nose has notes of plums, raisin bread, dried flowers, molasses cookies, and a hint of caramel. The taste has a chewy mouthfeel with black pepper spice balanced by figs, plums, raisins, along with a hint of molasses. The finish is medium-length with lingering spice and touches of figs and plums. Excellent! (March, 2024)
