Woodcock Pennsylvania Straight Rye. Image courtesy Barrel 21 Distillery. This two-year-old whiskey from Barrel 21 Distillery is distilled from 78% rye and 11% malted rye, along with corn and malted barley. The nose has notes of toasted bread and butter, linseed oil, lemon drop candies, dried flowers, muted spices, and just a hint of charred oak. The taste is tart with a spicy touch of lemon pepper along with linseed oil, hints of clove and cinnamon, dried flowers, and a slightly herbal touch. The long finish has subtle spices and a lemony tartness. (April, 2019)
