Wild Turkey Rare Breed Rye
Country: USA
Region: Kentucky
Type: Rye Whiskey
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 56.1%
Score: 94 Points
Rare Breed has always been Wild Turkey’s label for its barrel-proof Bourbon, and this is the first time it’s been used for a Rye whiskey. The nose has good baking spices, a nice touch of oak, honey, and a touch of freshly-roasted coffee beans. The taste is very spicy, but still well-balanced and not overpowering. Clove and cinnamon notes are complemented nicely by honey, oak, and hints of peaches and red apples in the background. The finish is long and spicy with a subtle sweetness. Excellent! (July, 2020)
