Wigle Port Rye Whiskey. Image courtesy Wigle Whiskey. This Pennsylvania Rye whiskey was matured in new charred oak barrels for almost two years, then spent 16 months in Port wine casks. The nose has a good balance of subtle spices and fruity notes, with fresh berries, touches of allspice and clove, dried fruits, honey, and oak. The taste has touches of black cherries with clove and cinnamon notes that develop in the background, along with honey, vanilla, and a touch of dried fruits. The finish is medium-length and gentle.
