Wieser Sherry Cask Single Malt
Country: Austria
Region:
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 40%
Score: 88 Points
This quadruple-distilled single malt comes from the Markus Wieser Distillery in Austria, and is matured for seven years in ex-Sherry casks. The nose has notes of dried apricots, raisins, and bananas, along with muted spices and a hint of coconut. The taste is thin and light at first, but builds up a nice fruity flavor with patience, rewarding the palate with notes of cooked berries, subtle spicy touches of clove and allspice, brown sugar, and clover honey. The finish is long, but subtle with gentle touches of cooked fruits and mild spices, along with a sudden and surprising burst of licorice. Complex and interesting. (December, 2016)
