WhistlePig 18 Double Malt Rye
Country: USA
Region:
Type: Rye Whiskey
Bottler: WhistlePig Farm
ABV: 46%
Score: 94 Points
The “double malt” in the name refers to the use of 15% malted rye and 6% malted barley in the mashbill, along with 79% unmalted rye in WhistlePig’s oldest whiskey yet. The nose is aromatic with toasted rye bread and touches of honey, berry cobbler, and baking spices. The taste has a thick and chewy mouthfeel with spices that come alive slowly and build to a great crescendo, then fade slowly to reveal notes of honey, vanilla, berry cobbler, and a hint of rye bread. The finish fades away slowly with lingering spices. Outstanding! (September, 2019)
