Image courtesy The Splinter Group.This whiskey from The Splinter Group is a 7-year-old sourced Rye finished in a combination of Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon California wine casks. The nose has notes of orange peel, caramel, toffee, creme brûlée, cooked banana, and charred oak. The taste is spicy and complex with orange peel, hints of clove and allspice, ginger, and butterscotch. The finish has lingering spices along with touches of caramel and toffee. (August, 2018)
