Westward Oregon Stout Cask
Country: USA
Region: Oregon
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 45%
Score: 91 Points
Oregon makes great beer as well as whiskey, and this American Single Malt brings the best of both together by finishing Westward’s whiskey in casks previously used for local stouts. The nose is malty and aromatic with notes of honey, vanilla, a nice oakiness, soft spices, and a hint of cedar shavings. The taste starts off malty with a nice touch of barley sugar while spicy notes of clove and allspice build up slowly and smoothly over touches of cedar, oak, honey, and vanilla. The finish is long with spices that fade away slowly to leave a nice stout-like creaminess on the palate. Nice! (November, 2019)
