Westland 2021 Peat Week Cask #6732. Image courtesy Westland Distillery. This is one of Westland’s two Peat Week releases for 2021. Both releases started out in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels, but this one spent its final 21 months in ex-Rum casks from Mount Gay Distillery. The nose has notes of grilled pineapple, brown sugar, honey, and a hint of molasses. The taste is smoky and rich with spicy touches of clove and cinnamon complemented by hints of brown sugar, molasses, and caramel candy in the background. The finish has a good, long smokiness and subtle spices with a touch of citrus. (February, 2021)
