This 5-year-old Rye is the first whiskey distilled at the Wayne Gretzky Distillery in Ontario, and is matured in a combination of first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels, virgin oak, and recharrred American Oak barrels. The nose has touches of dry wood spices, dried fruits, honey, caramel, and dried flowers. The taste has a good balance of fruits and spices. Peaches and pears complement clove and allspice notes, while honey and caramel fill out the background. The finish is long with a hint of fruit and lingering spices. Very nice! (May, 2024)
