W.L. Weller Special Reserve Bourbon. Image courtesy Sazerac. This wheated Bourbon is distilled at Buffalo Trace, and the nose is soft, warm, and sweet with notes of caramel candy, chocolate fudge, vanilla, and a hint of oak. The taste starts off muted and sweet, followed by a good burst of cinnamon candies that fades to reveal honey, caramel, créme brûlée, and a hint of oak. The finish is long and gentle with subtle spices and a nice touch of caramel. Adding a few drops of water will boost the honey sweetness at first and add a touch of straw while settling down the cinnamon just a bit. (July, 2018)
