Alpine Distilling's Traveler's Rest Single Malt. Photo ©2018, Mark Gillespie/CaskStrength Media. This American single malt comes from Alpine Distilling in Park City, Utah, and is matured in ex-Jack Daniel’s barrels before a brief finishing in new French Oak casks. The nose is malty with notes of coffee beans, dark fruits, muted spices, and a slight hint of campfire smoke. The taste has a nice oakiness with touches of campfire smoke, barley sugar, tree fruits, vanilla, and caramel that are nicely balanced. The finish is medium-length with a kiss of smoke and hints of tree fruits. Nice! (August, 2018)
