Tomintoul Tlàth Speyside Single Malt. Image courtesy Tomintoul. This Speyside single malt gets its name from the Gaelic word for gentle, and if you’re ordering it at a bar, it’s pronounced “tlah.” There’s no age statement, and Tlàth is matured in ex-Bourbon barrels. The nose is malty with touches of butterscotch, caramel candy, dried flowers and honey. The taste is light, crisp, and tart with lemon zest, white pepper, allspice, and hints of pineapple and coconut. The finish is medium-length with a tropical fruit tartness. (December, 2019)
