Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
The Whisky Exchange’s special Christmas single malt is a 10-year-old Linkwood, and the nose has a good balance of vanilla, lemon zest, roasted almonds, a leather jacket, and a slight touch of mint in the background. The taste is malty with a good burst of cinnamon spice, followed by hints of toffee and lemon zest that come out as the cinnamon fades. The second act shows more complexity with touches of chocolate-covered cherries and a slightly herbal touch, while the finish is long and slightly tart with a hint of garden herbs, chocolate and almonds. Adding some water will bring out more spices through the finish. (November, 2019)
