The Macallan Edition No. 4. Image courtesy The Macallan/Edrington.This is the first release for The Macallan with Nick Savage as whisky maker, as he takes over for longtime Macallan whisky maker Bob Dalgarno. It’s a blend of European and American Oak casks, and the nose has notes of figs, dates, toffee, hints of molasses and brown sugar, and a touch of pecan pie. The taste has good spices balanced by figs, toffee, touches of black cherries and pecan pie, and just a bit of brown sugar. The finish has gently fading spices with touches of pecans and toffee.
