The Macallan Edition No. 2. Image courtesy Edrington/The Macallan. This single malt is a collaboration between The Macallan’s whisky maker, Bob Dalgarno, and the Roca brothers of Spain’s famed El Cellar de Can Roca restaurant. The nose is full of dark fruits, with plum and raisin notes balanced by a hint of orange peel, vanilla, toffee, a touch of dried flowers, and ginger root. The taste is fruity, thick, and slightly dry with orange peel, plums, raisins, a touch of cloves, brown sugar, and a slight nuttiness. The finish is long and warm, gently fading away with dried fruits and a slight pepperiness. Very nice. (January, 2017)
