The Macallan Edition No. 1. Image courtesy The Macallan/Edrington. This is the first release in what will be an annual series of limited-edition bottlings, and was matured in a combination of eight different types of American Oak and European Oak casks. The nose is fruity with fresh berries, honey, vanilla, a hint of plums, orange peel, and a hint of oak. The taste is spicy at first with crystallized ginger, nutmeg, toffee, honey, and baked apples, then turns slightly dry and oaky leading into the finish, which is smooth and gently fading with a nice hint of oak and a touch of dark chocolate.
