The Macallan Cask Strength. Image courtesy The Macallan/Edrington. This Macallan expression is becoming harder to find, but worth seeking out. The nose has intense fruity notes with red grapes, berries, figs, dates, honey, and a touch of toasted oak. The taste is thick and fruity at first, followed by an intense blast of cinnamon. Touches of red grapes, figs, raisins, and berries come out as the cinnamon fades. The finish is long, fruity, and mouth-watering. It’s a powerful whisky, but not complex. (June, 2014)
