The Last Drop 1980 Buffalo Trace Bourbon. Image courtesy Last Drop Distillers. This whiskey was distilled back in the day when the distillery was named for George T. Stagg, a dozen years before Sazerac acquired the distillery and re-named it Buffalo Trace. The nose is luscious and sweet with notes of maple syrup, molasses, espresso, and a nice oakiness. The taste has black cherries, dry spices, hints of maple syrup, molasses, and oak tannins along with touches of espresso and cocoa. The finish is long and dry with a touch of oak, lingering spices, and black cherries. Excellent! (November, 2020)
