The Glenrothes 25. Image courtesy The Glenrothes/Edrington.This is the oldest whisky so far in The Glenrothes Soleo Collection, which replaced the distillery’s range of vintage-dated single malts in 2018. While most of The Glenrothes malts are matured in ex-Sherry casks, this one has a high percentage of first-fill ex-Sherry casks in the blend. The nose is sweet and fruity with notes of honey, brown sugar, tree fruits, citrus, honey, and vanilla pods. The taste starts off sweet, then develops a nice balance of baking spices, salted caramel, and a hint of coriander. The finish is long, gentle, and subtle. Excellent! (November, 2018)
