The Glenrothes 2004 Vintage. Image courtesy The Glenrothes/Edrington. As is the case with the vintage releases from The Glenrothes, this single malt was matured in ex-Sherry casks. However, the 2004 vintage was given an extra 18 months of maturation in new American Oak Sherry-seasoned casks. The result is a single malt with a malty nose and touches of honey, Christmas cake, soft spices, and a hint of orange peel. The taste has a citrusy tartness with tropical fruits, ginger root, a touch of white pepper, honey, vanilla, and a hint of caramel candy. The finish is long and slightly tart with soft spices.
