The Glenallachie 10 Cask Strength Batch 2. Image courtesy The Glenallachie Distillery Company. The first batch of The Glenallachie’s 10-year-old cask strength single malt sold out so quickly in 2018 that this batch was rushed out late in the year. As with that original release, this one comes from whisky first matured in first-fill Bourbon casks, along with virgin oak, Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez puncheons, but is bottled at a slightly lower strength than the original.

The nose has notes of honey, butterscotch, toasted coconut, dried fruits, and a hint of apricots. The taste is thick, oily, and peppery with clove, black pepper, and a touch of cinnamon balanced by honey and butterscotch. The finish is long and dry with lingering spices. (January, 2019)
