The Firkin 49 Tullibardine Single Cask. Image courtesy The Firkin Whisky Company. This is an 8-year-old single cask distilled at Tullibardine in 2011 (the “49” refers to both Tullibardine’s opening in 1949 and the birth year of one of Firkin’s founders) and matured in a combination of Oloroso and Amontillado Sherry casks over the years. The nose is fruity with touches of peaches, oak, brown sugar, and a malty sweetness. The taste has a good balance of cinnamon with sweeter notes of butterscotch, peaches, toffee, and a hint of oak. The finish is long, well-balanced, and complex. (March, 2020)
