The Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch #3. Image courtesy The Balvenie/William Grant & Sons. The third release of Tun 1509 comes from 31 different barrels of Balvenie single malt distilled between 1989 and 1993 and carefully blended by Malt Master David Stewart. The nose is aromatic with a nice maltiness and notes of dried fruits, sandalwood, honey, and a touch of oak. The taste has a great balanced of tree fruits and spicy notes of cinnamon, allspice, and ginger that slowly fade to leave behind lingering hints of dried fruits and honey on the very long finish. Outstanding! (July, 2017)
