"The Amber Light" Ben Nevis 1996. Image courtesy Royal Mile Whiskies.Dave Broom picked this 23-year-old refill Sherry cask of Ben Nevis from Thompson Brothers for Royal Mile Whiskies to bottle as the “official” whisky of “The Amber Light” Scotch Whisky documentary. Can’t argue with it at all…it has that “old school” character that will bring back a lot of memories for longtime whisky lovers.

The nose has notes of ripe fruits, honey, and a touch of nuttiness that goes along with its slightly earthy character. The taste is syrupy-thick with a nice balance of peach nectar, mango, papaya, barley sugar, and a touch of spices. The finish is long, earthy, mouth-coating, and thick. If you find one, thank your lucky stars and buy it. (November, 2019)
