Teeling Whiskey Chestnut Cask Finish
Country: Ireland
Region:
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Teeling Whiskey Company
ABV: 51.1%
Score: 91 Points
This single-cask bottling for the U.S. market spent 13 years in an ex-Bourbon barrel, and the final 24 months in a chestnut cask previously used for maturing brandy. The nose is nutty and woody, but not overpoweringly so with good fruity notes of peaches and plums in the background along with clover honey and a hint of black tea. The taste is peppery and intense with clove, white pepper, and cardamom spices balanced by tree fruits, a touch of nuttiness, and a hint of honey. The spices linger on the finish along with a nice oakiness and hints of fruits, nuts, and honey in the background. (October, 2019)
