Stranahan’s in Denver and Ireland’s legendary Old Bushmills Distillery are part of the same corporate family (Proximo Spirits/Becle), so it wasn’t hard for the folks in Colorado to get their hands on some used Bushmills barrels to finish their single malt whiskey. The nose has touches of charred oak, barley sugar, honey, vanilla, and dried flowers. The taste is thick, chewy, and luscious with notes of honey, baking spices, barley sugar, and dried flowers. The finish is long and well-rounded with a good balance of spices and sweetness. Very nice! (August, 2021)
