St. George Baller Single Malt
Country: USA
Region: California
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 47%
Score: 93 Points
This whiskey gets its name not from the common use of “Baller,” but because it was created specifically for use in Highballs. It’s first matured for two and a half years in a combination of ex-Bourbon and French Oak wine, then filtered through maple charcoal and finished in the distillery’s own Umeshu plum liqueur casks. The nose has subtle dried fruits, straw, and a nice maltiness. The taste is chewy and thick with notes of plums, licorice, hints of clove and cinnamon, and a soft oakiness. The finish is long and luscious with notes of prunes, plums, figs, licorice, and muted spices in the background. Unique and excellent! (August, 2017)
