Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This whiskey is bottled by Hobson & Roberts Distilling in Indianapolis, and the family-owned company’s patriarch, Mike Roberts, came up with the concept for the brand years ago but was never able to bring it to market. His family is using Bourbon sourced from MGP-I in Lawrenceburg, Indiana to bring that dream to life.
The nose is classic Bourbon, with notes of honey, vanilla, brown sugar, and touches of clove, dark chocolate, allspice, and oak. The taste is spicy and smooth with black pepper, chili powder, clove, and allspice on top of vanilla, honey, and brown sugar. The finish is long and smooth with a nice oakiness. A good, simple, and basic Bourbon. (July, 2015)
