Single Malts of Scotland Glenrothes 1989. Image courtesy Speciality Drinks. This single cask bottling of Glenrothes was matured for 26 years in a refill hogshead cask before it was bottled in August, 2016. The nose is buttery and fruity with notes of fresh berries, butterscotch, and straw. The taste is spicy and almost bitter at first with cinnamon, clove, lemon zest, and a hint of creme brûlée. Eventually, it settles down to reveal honey and vanilla notes that last through the long, slightly tart and spicy finish. 241 bottles available. (March, 2017)
