Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
One of the rare independent bottlings of Girvan’s single grain Scotch whisky, and matured in a refill ex-Bourbon hogshead, this whisky has a fruity, floral nose with notes of orange peel, dried flowers, a nice oakiness, allspice, burnt vanilla, and a hint of marzipan. The taste is fruity with a good balance of spices and lighter notes of apple, orange peel, and mango complemented nicely by white pepper, allspice, and cardamom. Touches of dried flowers and vanilla in the background add texture. A few drops of water will open up the fruity notes and slightly tame the spices. The finish is long and slightly astringent with dried apple and banana chips. Excellent! (July, 2017)
