Russell's Reserve 2002 Vintage Bourbon. Image courtesy Wild Turkey/Campari.This is the first non-chill filtered barrel-proof Russell’s Reserve release that is not a single barrel Bourbon. Eddie Russell picked 25 barrels from 2002 for this 15-year-old edition, and the nose has notes of peach pie, pears, oak, a slight pepperiness, and just a hint of grilled pineapple. The taste is mouth-coatingly thick with white pepper, a slight citrusy tartness, brown sugar, cocoa beans, and a slight hint of oak. The finish is long and smooth with lingering spices and touches of cooked bananas and coconut. Excellent! (July, 2018)
