Redbreast Small Batch. Image courtesy Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard. This is one of four special Redbreast Small Batch editions produced in 2019 for retailers in Massachusetts and California, and while all four are 14 years old, they’re blended to be slightly different from each other using two different types of Midleton’s single pot still spirit and a combination of ex-Sherry and Bourbon casks.

Batch “A” emphasizes the ex-Bourbon casks, with a nose full of soft spices, honey, dried fruits, and a hint of oak. The taste is spicy, oily, and thick with dried citrus fruits, baking spices, honey, vanilla, and a touch of oak. The spices fade away gently on the long finish with a subtle sweetness. Excellent!
