Redbreast Lustau Irish Whiskey. Image courtesy Irish Distillers. This is the first Redbreast expression since the brand’s revival that doesn’t carry an age statement. It takes Redbreast’s traditional single pot still Irish whiskey style and finishes it for a year in Oloroso Sherry casks from Spain’s Bodegas Lustau in Jerez.

The nose is light, fruity, and floral with muted spices, peaches, a hint of figs, dried flowers, and a touch of fresh berries. Spices come alive on the palate with notes of clove, ginger root, and a touch of white pepper balanced by orange peel, peaches, and fresh berries. The finish is very long and slightly dry with lingering spices and subtle fruity notes. Overall, very well-balanced and vibrant. (September, 2016)
