Raasay “While We Wait”
Country: Scotland
Region: Highlands
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: R&B Distillers
ABV: 46%
Score: 89 Points
This Highlands single malt comes from an undisclosed distillery, and is an idea of what R&B Distillers hopes to make once its distillery on the Isle of Raasay is completed. The whisky is lightly peated and finished in red wine casks from Tuscany.
The nose has notes of red grapes, fresh berries, and a hint of charred oak. The taste starts off with a nice note of fresh strawberries, followed by a gentle peatiness and hints of berry cobbler and red grapes. The finish has a lingering smokiness and touches of red grapes and berry cobbler. Very consistent and nice. (October, 2016)
