Port Askaig 28
Country: Scotland
Region: Islay
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Elixir Distillers
ABV: 45.8%
Score: 94 Points
This single malt comes from several refill American oak hogsheads filled by an undisclosed Islay distillery. The nose is slightly minty, but also medicinal with hints of iodine and Band-Aids. There are also touches of nuts and tropical fruits that complement a gentle smokiness. The taste is thick, oily, and assertive with a gentle peatiness, smoked beef, subtle spices, and touches of dried fruits and flowers in the background that add complexity. The finish is long with gentle touches of campfire smoke, herbs, and a hint of black licorice. Very nice! (April, 2019)
