Peerless Rye. Image courtesy Kentucky Peerless Distilling.Whatever it is that Corky Taylor and his team at Louisville’s Kentucky Peerless Distilling are doing, they’re doing it right! This 2-year-old Rye whiskey has a gentle, aromatic nose with notes of nutmeg, clove, and allspice balanced by touches of hazelnut and dried herbs. The taste is peppery and intense with black pepper, clove, and chili powder notes that fade slowly to reveal hints of caramel candy and honey with excellent balance and complexity. The finish is long and spicy with subtle hints of sweetness underneath. Wow! (October, 2018)
