Paul John Christmas Edition 2019. Photo ©2019, Mark Gillespie/CaskStrength Media. This Indian single malt was finished in Pedro Ximenez casks and includes some lightly peated whisky, giving it a delicate smokiness. The nose has notes of orange marmalade, toffee, raisins, honey, and a slight nuttiness. The taste is thick, fruity, and complex with an appropriate touch of Christmas cake, along with baking spices and a hint of smoke complemented nicely by hints of almonds, honey, and cocoa. The long finish has subtle touches of Christmas cake, almonds, and a whiff of smoke. Very nice! (December, 2019)
