Old Pulteney 2004 The Whisky Exchange single cask. Image courtesy The Whisky Exchange/Speciality Drinks. This first-fill ex-Sherry butt was bottled exclusively for The Whisky Exchange, and the nose has notes of raisin bread, applesauce, brown sugar, and hints of salted caramel and dark chocolate. The taste is thick and aggressive with Christmas cake, toffee, clove, raisins, and a touch of almonds, but adding a few drops of water will open up fruitier notes of apricot jam and orange peel. The finish has long-lasting spices with dried fruits and hints of salted caramel, chocolate mint leaves, and raisins. Excellent! (April, 2018)
